Why does my default mail file get so big? https://website-dev.ait.tools/blog/why-does-my-default-mail-file-get-so-big/ https://website-dev.ait.tools/blog/why-does-my-default-mail-file-get-so-big/#respond Tue, 25 Jul 2023 18:07:14 +0000 https://website-dev.ait.tools/?p=214314 All mail that is not addressed to a existing POP account will end up in the default mail drop. This account is normally the first 8 characters of your domain name. The methodology of accessing this user account is explained in the original e-mail welcome letter for your account.

Make sure that you check this default mail account regularly or change the default mail account location to an account you check regularly.

In order to change your default mail drop you will need to login to your SMT 5.0/CPanel and follow these steps:

  • Click on ‘Mail Services’
  • Click on ‘Manage Email Forwarding’
  • Click on ‘Configure Default Mail Drop’
  • From there you can select your domain and the location of your mail drop.

Note: An unchecked default mail drop can grow in size and use up a large portion of your disk space. You are responsible for managing disk usage on your server.

How do I log into my SMT 5.0 Control Panel? https://website-dev.ait.tools/blog/how-do-i-log-into-my-smt-5-0-control-panel-2/ https://website-dev.ait.tools/blog/how-do-i-log-into-my-smt-5-0-control-panel-2/#respond Tue, 25 Jul 2023 17:56:12 +0000 https://website-dev.ait.tools/?p=214307 This entry is for AIT’s Fully Managed web hosting customers, with the exception of the Starter Site or Business Basic accounts.

AIT provides a web management interface named SMT 5.0 (Server Management Tool version 5.0) or cpanel.  Your control panel performs many of the commands that would normally require telnet or terminal services access on other servers.  It has many utilities written by our in-house programmers that allow you to make modifications to things like POP/FTP accounts, file permissions, web statistics, disk space usage and much more via a easy-to-use GUI (graphical user interface) that can be accessed through your web browser. Your control panel is secured with a login/password system and SSL encryption.

To access SMT 5.0, do the following.

    1. Proceed to //website-dev.ait.tools/
    2. At the top of the page, Select “Login”, then click the “Web Hosting” tab.
    3. Input your customer number and password.
    4. Once logged in, click the link on the left hand menu “Manage Server SMT 5.0 New”
    5. Select your domain and login type as needed from the dropdown menu, and click “Manage Cpanel”.
    6. You’re in!

Windows Hosting Account Users:  As you can see, you have two different logins for the SMT 5.0 for Windows. The URL to login to your server is the same for both accounts. What is the difference between Reseller and Webadmin? The reseller has the most control over the account, and only exists on the top level domain. Some features of the reseller account are setting quota for each site, and provisioning the virtual hosts. The webadmin has more limited control over the account. First off it is confined to just one virtual host not all of the sites. You can not effect other virtual host through the webadmin login. Nor can you create more virtual hosts. The only way to administer all sites is through the reseller login. It does allow you to create email accounts, and FTP users as well as other various features. Note, if you are on a Business plan you will not be able to add more virtual hosts through the reseller account.

    1. Upload the tarred file to the server, assuring that the transfer is in Binary mode, not ASCII mode.
    2. Create a directory for the expanded files to go into.
    3. Log into your SMT.
    4. Go to Web Services–>Manage–>Untar A File
    5. Enter the directory path to the tar file on the server.
    6. Enter the directory path to untar the file in.
    7. Choose your file type.
    8. Click submit.

A .zip file will not work with this program. If your log files have been compressed you will not be able to use this to untar them in the /www/logs directory. Also, you will not be able to untar data into the /bin, /usr/bin, /lib, or /usr/lib directories.
