SMT 6 SSH Installation Instructions

  1. Access your SMT-6 interface at http://cpanel.YOURDOMAIN or via the “My Account” interface.
  2. Click on, “Server Management.”
  3. Click, “SSH.”
  4. Click, “Install SSH.”
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

SMT 5 SSH Installation Instructions

Please note that AIT only supports the SSH2 protocol on our Linux Fully Managed Plans, both shared and dedicated. On Linux Self Managed customers, SSH2 protocol is enabled by default.

Here are the steps you will need to take so we can complete the installation proccess.

  1. Download putty keygen by clicking the following link: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
  2. Run the application, press “Generate” and move yout mouse over the blank grey area until the key is complete.
  3. Type in a passphrase for the key set, please use your domain without the . for example: domaincom, aitcom, googlecom, ect.
  4. Save the private key as privatekey.ppk and the public key as authorized_keys to your local machine.
  5. FTP to your server and upload both of these files to your root or / directory.
  6. Let us know and we will complete the proccess and test your SSH access.
