How do I fix the error “530 Can’t set guest privileges” in FTP?

This error is a result of the directory path not being correct. To fix this, do the following.

  1. Login to your SMT 5.0
  2. Select FTP services
  3. Then select the “manage” option.
  4. On the manage FTP services page, select the user that is receiving the error “530 Can’t set guest privileges.”
  5. Modify the user.
  6. Modify the the directory path to one that exists on the server and then update selected user to save the changes.  The most common paths would be /www/htdocs or /www/htdocs/virtualhostdirectory.
