How do I use an Internet Browser to FTP to my website?

If you would like to use an Internet Browser (i.e. Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) to FTP to your server you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Open your Internet Browser.
  2. In the address bar put ftp://domainname.com/
  3. You will be prompted for your username and password.
  4. Once you are logged in, you will see the files in a format much like you do when you browse your local PC files.

You will be able to use many functions such as drag & drop, copy, paste, cut, and delete by right clicking on the individual icons.

NOTE:  It is not recommended by AIT to utilize your browser in this manner as it does not have full support for FTP commands, as some specific FTP applications do.
